Barn Dance and Hoedown Band

Turnpike Barn Dance Band have been together since 1994 but we have been musicians in other bands longer than we care to mention. We have a unique sound which is a combination of Celtic, Cajun and Country, all driven by bass and drums to give it a rocky feel.

The lead instruments are Electric Mandolin,Electric Mandola, Electric Fiddle, Strum Stick and Banjo with Rhythm Guitar, Bass Guitar and Drums for backing. All the members of the band are accomplished musicians who have travelled the globe but still love what they do - and it shows in the music.

Dave, or Hayzee as he is more commonly known, is the lead instrumentalist, lead singer and front-man of the band. Dave plays solid bodied electric mandolin (a custom made Gordon Smith he helped to design), An Electric Mandola designed and built by Hugh Scullion, electric fiddle, Strum Stick and guitar.

Martin, joined the band in 2005 and has been a superb addition to the band. Playing a Gordie electric guitar, he interchanges between a rock solid rhythm and blistering leads

Daz, plays a wonderful old Fender Precision Bass he bought way back in the early 60's. It must be worth an absolute fortune

Derek - We kidnapped "Degsy" from the rock and roll scene. His impact on the band was immediate and startling. Derek is a superb and exciting drummer. It's as simple as that. He can bang out a gutsy rock and roll with blistering solos, or do delicate stuff behind gentle ballads. He is the heartbeat of Turnpike.
