Book us as far ahead as possible. We do have a string of regular bookings.

For wedding receptions, please bear in mind that you need to allow much more time than you might expect for EVERYTHING else happening during the day. So do allow plenty of time for photos, greetings and drinks, the meal, and especially for the speeches! - If the barn dance band is playing for the whole evening, they would usually take a mid-way break of about 20-30 minutes. This break is the best time to serve any buffet refreshments, to avoid splitting the evening more than necessary.

So what exactly is a barn dance and what happens ?
Well a barn dance takes the form of sets, which can be either lines, circles or squares. If this sounds complicated or scary - IT ISN'T - honest. Turnpike barn dance band have been playing for wedding receptions and other functions for many years and the emphasis on all their dances is concentrated on FUN and SIMPLICITY.
A caller will walk you through the dances before the music starts and will "call" all the steps as you dance.

Do we need to be fit - is it strenuous?
No - we usually have a good mix of both kids and grannies at most wedding receptions and we haven't hospitalised anyone yet. Some dances Granny and Grandad may choose to sit out and we do a few slower ones during the evening.

Do we need anything else?
Not really - Turnpike come complete with their own caller and an excellent sound system. They just need a handy power point that they can plug in to and away they go. They can finish off the evening with some old rock and roll numbers if required so you don't even need a disco, but they can't do all that modern stuff, so if you want that kind of thing the band don't mind working with disco's.

How do we book you?
It couldn't be simpler - just give their manager Fran a call at the phone number above or send her an email by clicking the link- she can check the diary for availability there and then.
